These animations originally
ran at full screen resolution. Obviously, the number of frames in each and the
size of each file means that is in impossible to show you how they were meant
to be viewed. You would certainly get bored waiting for them to download and my
5Mb web space would soon be eaten up. But small though they are, I think that
they still look pretty good all things considered. In fact the animations were
pretty much redundant until the Web came along. They were created a few years
back on Acorn equipment in 256 colours but most users have now upgraded to a
machine comparable to a Mac or a PC. The animations can still be viewed on the
newer machines but only in a letterbox mode. So for letting the rest of the
world see something that was created only for the eyes of Acorn users, the
World Wide Web is a very good platform.
