Van Gogh's Bedroom
The Main View

Most people who are familiar with Van Gogh's work, will at once recognise the above picture. This was a scene that he painted several times, each one being slightly different to the other. My version is different again in that it is a rendered view taken from a 3d model of the entire room.

This project was completed about nine years ago and took me about six weeks. I used an Acorn A3000 computer and a lovely piece of software titled 'Illusionist' from Clares Micro supplies to complete the task. Only 256 colours are supported by this software but the results were and still are quite stunning. I say 'are' because this software will run on the newer Acorn machines as well.

The idea behind this project was to render the view at the unseen end of the room. i.e. the position that Van Gogh painted the scene from. This was loosely based on fact but nevertheless, makes the end result very believable.

I won't keep you waiting any longer, click here to see the 'Unseen End'.
