One of the hardest working bands around, The Corrs have become a global attraction since they turned professional in 1991. They are currently on tour with another major star, Celine Dion, on a 30-date European itinerary of headline concerts of capitals, including Dublin.
Forgiven, Not Forgotten, The Corrs' well received platinum selling debut CD, will doubtless sell many more copies but Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea have already laid plans for the next album.
LA producer Glen Ballard (of Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill) will co-produce it.
Not content with being the band's powerhouse, lead singer Andrea Corr joins Madonna in Evita.
The movie, released in the States over Christmas, can be seen here in January.
The Corrs' story in itself would make an entertaining movie to rival The Commitments. After one of the band's first live appearances at a Dublin concert in 1990 they were invited to play in Boston.
A mixture of luck and enterprise led to their meeting a senior executive of Atlantic records in New York who signed them on the strength of an impromptu audition.
Happy residents at Atlantic's Malibu, California studio, The Corrs took full advantage of the sedate atmosphere to create an impeccable pop-rock work.
The Corrs seem to have been on an upward commercial trajectory right from the start. But their Midas touch has much more to do with natural musical abilities than with their fashion-magazine good looks or sultry image.
It's really the sophisticated marriage of 90s rock and pure traditional folk that makes them so vital.
