I apologise for not having a direct transcript of the interview. I was flicking through TV channels when I came across the Corrs on 'the Late Late show'. They were half-way through a performance of 'Love To Love You', after that they sat on the set, they looked somewhat different to the last time I saw them, but that was a while ago! They explained that they were in Ireland to write their album after spending a month in Los Angeles. They are still writing and finalising the songs to be included in the next album. They explained that they had completed a tour in Australia at the beginning of the year which was special to them because of their popularity, Jim stated that they had four number 1's in Australia. They were explaining that they even met some other Corrs in Australia. They accepted congratulations for their world-wide success, so far, they re-stated the story of them becoming famous. Their bedroom studio, performance at Whelans, Jean Kennedy Smith's influence, the meeting with David Foster and success so far. The band explained how they write their material, usually a song is written by one or two of them then it is given to the four of them and 'worked on' The four don't all write the same song although they do add their input at different stages. They played 'Haste to the wedding' on the set and then answered some more questions, Caroline explained that there was no time for a relationship, or at least she said that she wasn't currently in a relationship, Andrea said the same but Sharon told the host that she was involved with someone. Intrigued by this, Gay Byrne probed further revealing Sharon’s boyfriend to be an Irish barrister who she very much likes. When Jim was asked about his relationships he said no and was from then onward very quiet and didn't reveal much, obviously there was something suspicious!!
Questions were taken over the phone and from the studio audience, a phone question was how did they get involved with Beverly Hills 90210?? An audience member asked if it is good to be working with David Foster, they explained they haven't yet started actual work with him for the next album and included that they will also be produced by Glen Ballard. Over the phone a 16 year old girl from Cork read a poem written about the Corrs by her and her twin sister. This received great applause and was greeted well by the band. The four paid tribute to their parents for all that they have done. the Corrs denied claims that they had sold their soul to America, they explained that it is a bit like an American style album and made no apologies for it, they asked "what's wrong with that??".
The four explained that the Irish media has been kind to them and they have created their luck, Jim said "the harder we work the luckier we get!" Andrea told Gay Byrne of her appearance in Evita, he wanted to know how well they knew each other, Andrea told him that they had done a days' shoot and they didn't spend three months together but knew each other as Madonna had to drag her from bed!! She told that she enjoyed performing in response to a question about being caught by the film-making bug, she views film as another facet to her performing ability.
I'm sure there is much more said than what I can remember, I'll try to get the proper transcript as soon as possible.
