Dundalk band The Corrs are set to go coast-to-coast on America's top-rated TV show. The brothers and sisters act - Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea Corr - have been invited to play on the hugely popular and influential 'Late Night With Letterman' show. "Opportunities arise that you simply have to take, and this is one of them," said Sharon. "We haven't got a definate date yet, but it will be some time in February or March. "Letterman's producer saw us on another show, loved what we did and asked us to come onto the Letterman show." Caroline added: "You can't imagine how huge the Letterman show is in the States. A new band called 'Hootie and the blowfish' appeared on the show, and they went on to sell 12 million records. We don't expect that to happen but this is a big break for us." The Letterman coup is another step in the seemingly inexorable rise of the Corrs to international stardom. They spent most of last year in America, recording and promoting their debut album "Forgiven Not Forgotten'.
They are in the middle of a whirlwind European promotional tour, and next month head to Australia and Japan. And they got a standing ovation when they supported Celine Dion at the King's Hall a few months ago. The album is currently at No.3 in the Irish album charts, the same postion as the first single 'Runaway' reached. 'Runaway' is released in the UK in a fortnight, with the album to follow at the end of February.
