Question-(2nd January)

Do you know or can you find out what kind of tin whistle Andrea Corr plays? It has a beautiful tone and I'd love to buy one the same.

From Kate

Answer

I know that Andrea has more than one type of tin-whistle but I assumed that Andreas tin-whistles were 'normal' ones?? I'm sure they're not designer made or anything, but I know nothing about tin-whistles :)) Can anyone help?

About Andrea's tin whistle, "Walton's" is the brand, "Little black" is the type and "D" is the key (the clef). as far as I remember. Cyril Chaufton

Andrea Corr plays a Clare Tin Whistle in the key of "D". The Clare whistle is the most popular Irish whistle used by the professionals. David Le Bas

Question-(11th November)

Who's Paddy McCarthy?

From Jess Lai

Answer

The Corrs were asked the exact same question, on a live radio-show in Denmark.

"Who is Paddy McCarthy?"

"We don't know. These traditional tunes are sometimes so old that nobody knows who wrote them anymore, and then this is being adapted by us, so the tunes are mixed into other tunes, and other tunes, and nobody knows where the originate is. So Paddy McCarthy, who knows."

- Sharon Corr -

Question-(14th May)

The Corrs were due to play at the Mean Fiddler in London on June 6 (the day before Fleadh 97) but the gig has now been cancelled. Do you know
(a) why the gig was cancelled?
(b) if they are playing anywhere else in the UK this year?

From Steve Fisher

Answer

I don't know anything about the cancellation of the 'Mean Fiddler' concert. I think the Corrs are gonna really try to 'break' the UK market with their next album (Out later this year), there is bound to be a British tour late this year or early next. If anyone else knows the answers to these questions, your help will be appreciated.

Question-(12th April)

How can I get the Corrs' new singles? Will I have to wait until their second album release? The new single I mean is `Rainy Day`. Can I find the Australian CD in Music stores? Is there going to be a European tour soon?

From Cristobal Cueva

Answer

Rainy Day is available on the single Love To Love You which is the most recent of the Corrs' releases. The Australasian album is only widely available in Australia at the moment, there are a few copies available at present in other places but they are expensive due to import costs. Unfortunately, the only option you really have is to import these using the record codes on the website. There is going to be a tour to promote the new album, they will probably tour at the end of this year and the beginning of 1998. If you live near Cork (Ireland) or London (England) you can see them this summer playing at the Famine Festival & London Fleadh.

Question-(27th March)

Just wondering if you had any idea when the new Corrs album will start production and will be released. Since their recent concert in Melbourne and upon hearing their new song - I am dying for the new album.

From Katy Hetherington

Answer

The new album started with demos being recorded on the week beginning 12th March. They are in the studio at the moment starting 'proper' demos and the album is expected to be released around November. They are performing at a festival in Cork, Ireland on June 1st, so they are taking a break around that time.
