Exclusive review by Aine McDonnell
The atmosphere was buzzing as Ireland's most talented band since U2 took to the stage. Jim, Sharon, Caroline and Andrea strode onto the stage with a confidence that has endeared their millions of adoring fans world-wide to them. The Corrs Live spectacular was about to begin!!
They chose to do an acoustic set which showed their immense talent in musical playing but also it portrayed Andreas' strong yet sweet voice at it's most powerful and best. They started with "Forgiven Not Forgotten" and progressed through their wonderful myriad of hits from the soothing tones of "Someday" and "The Right Time" as they also did those great instrumentals that can get any crowd up and dancing. Tunes like "The Carraroe jig", "Haste to the Wedding" and my favourite "Toss the Feathers". It was during these instrumentals that the Corrs called on some friends to join in, people like Sharon Shannon, that eminent accordion player and Steve Cooney, a wonderful bass player.
The one moment I remember clearly during their set was Andrea saying "This is the first time we've gotten together on stage for a while and boy have we missed it!!". It showed how they loved playing live to their fans and how much they enjoy making the music they love so much. I hope I have summed up in my own way the best concert of the summer in Ireland and I know I will enjoy another stunning performance when they return to Ireland hopefully in the near future.
