IRISH pop sensations the Corrs have teamed up with the Chieftains on their new album-
to cover a Jimi Hendrix song!
Lead singer Andrea Corr said: "It's such a classic song, and it's a bit different the
way we've done it.
"We recorded it with the Chieftains in basically one take, and I tell you, it was one
of the best musical experiences of my life.
"It was amazing, all of us in the studio just playing together - it was just a great
experience
"It's soulful, yet it's traditional, and there's like a loop in it aswell. It's
turned out so well, we're all thrilled with it."
Little Wing, which has previously been covered by Eric Clapton, is the closing track on
Talk On Corners, the Corrs follow-up to their two million selling debut Forgiven Not
Forgotten.
"There's definitely pressure on for the second album, especially as Forgiven sold so
well, but we put pressure on ourselves more than anybody, said Andrea.
"Everybody wants to hear what the new record is like, and we want to follow up the
first album and do better.
"It is a development from the last album. It still incorporates traditional Irish
music with pop and rock but it's a little edgier, a little more guitar orientated.
"When we made Forgiven Not Forgotten we hadn't toured that much. The difference this
time, is that before writing we had toured the world and felt what it's like to be in
front of a live audience - that passion, that freedom of expression.

The Corrs: flying high with their version of a Hendrix classic
"When we went to write and record the new album you can hear that in the music, the
passion in the songs, but also the way we performed them.
"It's hard to think that more than two million people have our album - that's kind of
crazy and is a staggering thought, but there's more that we can do.
The Corrs - brother Jim and sisters Sharon and Caroline complete the line-up - hail from
Dundalk, and are one of the hardest working acts in the business.
"Yes, we do work very very hard, but we do enjoy it and we feel very fortunate to be
able to get up on stage, and play music, and write music and succeed at it.
"We are blessed and you can't ever lose sight of that.
"You've got to enjoy your success along the way. I'm in this for the journey and not
the destination, and that's a very good perspective to have on life generally. I'm not
aiming to get somewhere in particular, but I'm aiming to enjoy it as I go."
And when Andrea is not working with the band, she is carving out a movie career.
She had a small role in The Commitments; played alongside Madonna in Evita, and will be
heard on the new animated feature Quest For Camelot next year.
"I play the singing voice of King Arthur's daughter, but it is as much acting as
singing.
I enjoy the acting parts, but it is not something I have gone looking for. And it does
take up a lot of time from the music, and that is the real love."
Talk On Corners is released on October 20 when the Corrs will be signing copies at the
Virgin Megastore in Belfast.
