From: alf margett How did you find my Web Site: surfing Comments: great site, but could you say what are sizes ie 54mm etc. are all Britains deetail plastic?

Reply: Thank you for your comments. I am in the process of amending my web site to try an include a brief description about scale, when they were produced, etc on every page. All Britains deetail figures are plastic figures on metal bases. Various vehicles and other accessories were also produced in metal and/or plastic.

From: Phil Walker How did you find my Web Site: By Accident. Looking for New Timpo Figs Comments: I would like to order from you 1 of each of all the Timpo Napoleonic range reissues 8 cavalry boxes and 4or 5 infantry packs. I intend to build 54mm plastic Napoleonic armies and want a look at the Timpo figures.

From: John Jarrold How did you find my Web Site: copernic Comments: Peter doesn't only deliver quickly, he allows me to relive my youth with Timpo and Lone Star! Where are the Lone Star paratroopers and Timpo WW2 Germans...and the Cherilea Vikings?!

Reply: As far as I know Toyway do not have any plans to release further Lone Star figures, but you never know. The originals are becoming more difficult to obtain. The Timpo Germans are a lot harder to find than the G.I.s.

From: Luis Rivera How did you find my Web Site: Searching Britains toy soldiers Where are you from: Brooklyn N.Y. Comments: I'm interested in britains apache indians i heard they are very hard to find, please let me know if you have then.

Reply: The apache indians were only in the catalogue between 1977 and 1986 and are therefore more difficult to obtain than the ordinary Indians, but they do turn up. Keep checking my Britains deetail page.

From: ARNALDO GOMES How did you find my Web Site: web search Where are you from: Portugal Comments: Great site! Very easy to search through and with items I couldn't find anywhere else.

Comments: dear sir i am a collector of world war two.1/32 scale hand painted military toy soldiers and hand painted die cast military tanks trucks half tracks jeeps. i am looking for booklets catalogues on these items. thank you very much. paul m. schupska.

Reply: Britains produced a small range of metal vehicles to accompany their deetail World War II range, including Jeeps, Kubelwagons, Daimler scout cars, motorbikes and cannons. Any of the early 1980 catalogues as listed on my Manufacturers Catalogues & Other Reference Books page depict these models.

From: Peter Barrett How did you find my Web Site: Google search on metal soldiers

Posted on: Friday, December 06, 2002

Comments: Dear Peter Having looked at your website I wonder if you can give me some help. I've been left some old metal soldiers, cowboys & Indians, medieval knights and animals made by charbens and Buckingham. Some are in the original boxes, some are simply fixed to strips of card. My grandfather knew someone who worked at the factory. I don't want to get rid of them, they have some sentimental value, but I would also like to know what there likely value is. Any idea where they can be valued? I live in Buckinghamshire. Many thanks Peter Barrett

Reply: I cannot provide valuations over the internet or via post. I suggest that you try a local auctioneer as many provide this service for free. A good book to look in, which you may be able to get from your local library is "The Great Book of Hollowcast Figures" by Norman Joplin.

Reply: As it states on my homepage I do not give out valuations. There are several reasons for such such as the difficulty in accurately assessing figures condition and authenticity without seeing them, regional variations in prices and the time to reply to every request of this type that I receive. If you are interested in adding to your collect my Britains deetail list is here.

Comments: I have been using ebay to build up my Britains collection. Although I haven't purchased from you as yet, I am comparing costs and you look very good. Will ask that you advise what the postage costs to Queensland, Australia are like so that I can compare costs prior to negotiating purchase. Plus there are limited outlets for the variety that you offer. Regards, Howard Riach

Reply: Costs are dependant on weight, please let me know what you interested in and I will give you a quote.

Only a person with the knowledge of his customers and the hobby would take the time to do this. Peter thanks for everything and look out for another order coming soon.

I gave them to my son recently and now he's interested in them so we decided to do a search to see if they were still in production. Its nice to see you can still get these types of soldiers.

Comments: my husband and i have a set of britains figures that appear to be old. the box has an orange border with a picture of a gentleman overlooking his sheep with a dog at his feet. in the box are 5 sheep that are beige with black eyes and feet. the dog is beige, brown, with black eyes and collar. the herder is wearing black trousers and hat, brown jacket, and a black staff in his right hand. his right arm is also moveable. On the base of the herder is stamp britain, made in england. copy pr....(can't make out the rest. Germany is stamped on the side of the box. The set was purchase at a dept store called Shuster's in Milwaukee Wisconsin (this is on a small sticker on the other side of the box) This department store closed several years ago. Any information you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Reply: As stated in my terms and conditions I have a strict policy regarding queries like this. Due to the volume of requests for information or for valuations, identification of figures, etc that I receive and the time required to send accurate replies I am unable to answer any of them.
