NEWS ROUND-UP FROM THE
JOINT CHURCH COUNCIL (JCC) At their recent meeting, the JCC Executive plus the Fabric and Worship & Outreach Committees reviewed a number of issues:- Approval was given to the Ministers’ decision to agree the use of Holy Trinity for a presentation to clergy and funeral directors by a firm that has begun to produce family DVDs of funerals. The dates of Harvest Festival and the Bereavement Service in 2010 agreed to be one week earlier so that Harvest co-incides with ‘Back to Church’ Sunday. The 2010 joint Lent course will be shared in home groups; materials will be supportive of lay leaders of groups. A stacking table system was approved for purchase and storage in the chair store on St Joseph’s side. Church contributions to be unchanged for 2010, but individual Councils to be challenged to say how we will raise about £35,000 to tackle replacement of time-expired fittings (e.g. boiler, outer doors) over the next few years. We replied to a Borough Council consultation on Parks & Green Spaces: we put community involvement plus tidying up of existing resources as more important than creating new parks. For a full report please ask your reps for more details and for sight of papers. The next meeting is set for 28th January 2010. |

Lord, you offer freedom to all people: we pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist, support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the activities of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in His strength and in His Spirit, now and every day. Amen. |

NOVEMBER: the month of Holy Souls
and as before we will have a Book of
Remembrance in the church. Everyone is invited to write in the names of members
of their families and friends who have died, those for whom you would like
everyone to pray for. The book will be recognised and honoured by special
prayers Sunday by Sunday. Be assured, writing names in the book adds to our healing process, along with knowing that all the names of our loved ones are being remembered. |
