Just recently found the orphanage website and Trevor has done a grand job
setting up a base for old boys and girls to keep in touch. Especially since the
"demolition." My father, Jim Bruce, was lorry driver at the home
between 1944 and 1952 ( or thereabouts). We lived at The Cottage where old boys
stayed when on leave or on holiday. I went to the orphanage school and worked at
Glenfarclas distillery when I left. Be glad to hear from anyone who remembers
those days. Good luck with the reunions and best wishes to all
"scallywags." Eddie Bruce.

I don’t know what orphanage my father Donald Rendall Till was placed in when
his parents divorced. I don’t know how old he was when he was placed, but do
know that his father took him back when he was around 13 and he was born in
1934. His parents lived in Edinburgh at the time they divorced. After the
divorce his father Joseph Till moved to the United States and his mother
Euphemia Till moved to Yorkshire. I never asked my father where he was as a
child and can’t now as he passed away in Georgia, USA in 1992 and his parents
are no longer living. He also had a sister named Josse. Any suggestions or help
would be greatly appreciated Thank you Sheila A. (Till) Thompson Sheilathom1@comcast.net

George, Rena, Agnes, Mary, Eddie and Lizzie Boor. We were at Aberlour in the
1950's. However in my first message the email address is incorrect, so if anyone
has tried to contact me, please could you try again on this page. Mary

I would like to express my deepest thanks to both Trevor and Allan for the help
they given us in discovering information regarding Hugh McAllister. We now have
contact with a close friend of his. Also, through the picture gallery we now
have the first and only photo we have seen of Hugh. Any information regarding
Hugh's older brother, David Stewart (possibly McAllister) would be most welcome.
Ever hopeful, Shena Hubbard-Nixon and family
Comments:
I am trying to find any information on the brother of my mother, Mary
McAllister. His name was Hugh Burke McAllister who drowned in the river Spey
while living in the orphanage in 1945, aged 14 years. Any photos or any stories
to tell would be greatly appreciated by my mother. Also anyone knowing any
information on David, Hugh's older brother, we'd be grateful as my mother was
put into a different orphanage and lost contact with both.

I am trying to find some kind of record on my grandfather. We're pretty sure he
was born in Tarbet and spent his childhood years in an orphanage in Scotland,
but we're really not sure which one. If you could help us in any way you would
have no idea how much it would be appreciated. In August, I'm flying my mom to
Scotland so she can see her dad's birthplace. If we could find the orphanage
where he was, it would help my mom because her dad never wanted to talk about
his early years. Here's the information I have. David James Taylor date of birth
: 10-26-1902 hair: br/gr eyes: blue height : 5-7 1/2 He came to Canada, then
eventually to the United States when he was about 21. Thankyou very much for
your time Karl Harms

My wife's grandfather was John Gillam White who was the burser of the orphanage
in the 1930's and who was a botanist of some note. He produced the first scented
begonia. His daughter is seeking any information about him and a book he wrote
called 'The Flora of Speyside'. Any information gratefully received.

As my mum Jessie is not an Internet 'Silver Surfer' I am posting this for her.
She was at Aberlour from 1928 to 1938 with a number of step and full brothers
and sisters (Jessie, Nessie, Elsie and Archie were the youngest I believe). Mum
is fit and well aged 79 and a keen line dancer. I think she would be interested
to hear from anyone at the orphanage when she was there.

Seeking any information on James Andrew Ross or Joseph Ross. This is a very long
shot but I am trying to gather information on my father and my uncle who were
taken in by Aberlour Home in 1914. Their mother committed suicide in 1913 and my
grandfather was unable to cope with the family and split them up, putting my Dad
and his brother to Aberlour. We know that my Dad went from Aberlour to some
neighbouring farm to work and became a chauffer in the Inverness area - if
anyone at all could give us any information this would be remarkable and very
much appreciated.

I have seen some messages regarding Mulvey's in Chesire. I wonder if these
people have any connections to Mulvey's in Liverpool. My GG Grandfather Robert
Mulvey (b. 1833) was from Toxteth Park in Liverpool. His son William James
Mulvey is my great grandfather. His brothers and sisters were Robert Wood,
Richard Henry, John R., Rebecca Hannah, Charlotte Josephine, Laura, Amelia E.
and Edward Evans. Does anyone have any lniks to these people. Thanks...Irene
