How to Join Chatterbox
Sections are very popular in CRC.  Members who are interested in specific subjects (documentary making for example) have formed their own circle of friends, meeting on tape to swap ideas and experiences. Section tapes generally take two forms: programmes compiled by members for circulation round the section for listening only, or discussion type round robin tapes where you can join in.  The whole idea is based on the pleasure of meeting fellow enthusiasts via your tape recorder.

No club would be complete without a regular magazine.  CRC has two.  One is THE CHATTERERS WORLD; the other is a SOUND MAGAZINE.  Both are issued quarterly.

CHATTERERS WORLD is a. printed publication concerned with bringing club news and views to members.  Indeed, CW is the official journal of the club. However in addition to the official line, the magazine is designed to appeal to all members by including letters, articles, section news, quiz words and so on, mostly contributed by members.  It is possible to cover almost any subject on tape, so a wide, variety .of interests are always in evidence.

THE SOUND MAGAZINE is as the title suggests. A magazine for listening rather than reading.  However, it is not Chatterer's World read onto tape, but a compilation of recordings done by club members. Documentaries, drama, wild life, can all feature in the varied programmes.  The sound magazine depends on contributions from club members, on cassette or open reel, in stereo or mono.  So here is the part of 'CRC that puts the recording into tape - that's what CRC is" all about.

The Chatterbox Recording Club was founded over 34 years ago by a small group of amateur radio enthusiasts who decided to try using tape recorders instead of their radio sets to contact each other, on tape. From six members based in the south of England the club has grown into a worldwide society. So what is the Chatterbox Recording Club about today?

There are two main features of CRC.  Tapesponding and Sections.  Into these categories fall every, possible aspect of recording, from tapesponding to creative recording - documentaries, dramas, and so on.  In order to make contacting other members by tape easier, CRC publishes a directory of members annually - including names and addresses listed along with recorder details and interests.  Selecting a, person with whom you would like to tape is a simple process.  Introduce yourself by letter, and if accepted, follow up with a tape.  Many an interesting hour can be spent talking to your tape contact, sharing your hobbies and anything that can be recorded.  Many lasting friendships have resulted from meeting on tape, only with people in this country, but from all over the world.  This is how The Chatterbox Recording Club has won the reputation of being 'the friendly club'.
