Due to adverse weather conditions, we have today (Wednesday 6th) taken a
decision to cancel the Postcard, Stamp and Cigarette Card Fair at Haydock Park
Racecourse which was due to have taken place on Sunday 10th January 2010.
We have taken this decision on safety grounds in conjunction with the Racecourse
management as we could not guarantee that the Racecourse access road, car park
and unloading areas would be sufficiently clear for public or trade access, in
the light of the forecast conditions for the weekend. We are also conscious
that many of the traders due to attend are presently snowed in, as are many of
our customers, and unless conditions improved drastically many would have been
unable to reach the fair (or in some cases even leave home!).
We decided to take the decision at this early stage to avoid the uncertainty for
dealers and collectors, and to enable maximum time for a communication to
customers who might have been hoping to attend. We have already been able to
contact personally many customers who completed prize draw tickets for the
previous June event, and all dealers who were due to attend will be contacting
those of their customers who might have been expected to travel. We are also
asking those customers we speak to circulate notice of this communication.
A number of the dealers due to attend will be attending other events later in
January, including York Racecourse stamp fair (Jan 15/16), Chester card fair
(Sat Jan 16), Stockport Guildhall (Tuesday Jan 26), Red Rose Preston (Sat Jan
30), and also Stockport Town Hall Card Fair (Sat 13 Feb).
The M&DPTA Stamp and Postcard Fair at Sale Grammar School on Sat 9th Jan
10am-3.30pm is still presently planned to go ahead. Please monitor our website
for any update.
The next Postcard, Stamp and Cigarette Card Fair at Haydock Park Racecourse
will be on Saturday 5th June 2010,
Public opening 10am-4pm.
Admission £2 Adults, £1.50 Concessions.
Trade enquiries are welcome, tables are available, 8ft or 12ft size.
