Professional photographers don't just rely on luck to judge the best moment to press the shutter - although luck can be a big help. Anticipation and decisiveness are the key words here - and once again they are qualities that can be learned by anyone - with practise
These two pictures are of similar subjects, in fact, they were taken at the same event - the Appleby Horse Fair, in northern England. But the way they were taken, and the effects created by using those different techniques, gives each a very different feel and atmosphere.
