Street buskers are an ideal subject for novice street photographers. All you have to do is drop some money into the hat, or in this instance the violin case, and you have a ready made and willing subject. So be choosy. Pick a subject who looks really interesting and one who is operating in a place where you can work easily without showing distracting backgrounds in your pictures.

When you are photographing a subject like this, frame the picture quickly but carefully, then concentrate on that part of the picture that is likely to move most - in this case the dog. The fiddler was hardly likely to move too much, but the dog seemed restless, and, sure enough, patience was rewarded when the dog stretched and yawned. This gave the picture a nice touch and you can share his boredom at having listened to all the same tunes before.
