Ballyhackamore today

Ballyhackamore today, is a vibrant village community and is probably the
last remaining urban village within the City of Belfast. In this unique area, modern technology goes hand in hand with the delivery of high quality service and old fashioned courtesy.

The village offers a wide range of shopping and community facilities which are used by Residents and Traders alike.

In many shops the Proprietor will be present to extend a personal Northern Ireland welcome.

The Future

Ballyhackamore, situated between the world famous Harland and Wolff shipyard,
birthplace of the Titanic, and Parliament Buildings at Stormont is well
placed to develop in the 21st Century.

Harland & Wolff Shipyard

The Parliament Buildings of Northern Ireland which are situated on the outskirts of Belfast, were designed by Sir Arthur Thornley FRIBA in the Greek classical tradition and style, the exterior being faced in Portland stone above a plinth of unpolished granite from the Mountains of Mourne. The building was opened on 16th November 1932 by the then Prince of Wales.

Stormont Parliament Buildings

The Village Trust was established by a Group of People, who lived or worked
in the Village, to bring together the views of the Village Traders and
Residents to maintain the uniqueness of Ballyhackamore.   The Trust
recognised the historical importance of the Village taking into account the
problems of the day and looks towards a continuously improving  future of
the Village.
