A partnership between the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Memory Map route planning software (The Recommended Route Planning Tool for the DofE) has been set up.
Discounts can be obtained for this software by Assessors, Award Leaders and Participants (see The Award web site)
Routes and route cards can be saved from Memory Map - sent by email and then read by the recipient's copy of Memory Map.
Applying for assessment by the Panel
When applying to the Panel for assessment you should email a copy of the green application for assessment
form and one copy of your proposed route and route cards from Memory Map, at least six weeks before the dates of your venture, to the
Panel Secretary. The Panel Secretary will notify you by email of any problems and also endeavour
to find a team of assessors who will act as assessors for your venture.
Once the route is finalised and a team of assessors found, you will be notified of the team leader's name, address and telephone number. You should then send one paper copy (not electronic copy) of the "greens",
tracing, route cards and all other information required by the team leader before your venture. This should reach the team leader no later than four weeks
before your venture. You will also need to arrange with the team leader to meet him and some of his team for a pre-venture check
of your knowledge and equipment. This check may take approximately two hours so please be prepared.
As you can appreciate all this takes time so the more notice you can give, the less pressure you find yourselves under to amend and
change any problems that may arise in the route submitted.
Notification of training, practice or self-assessed ventures
When you don't need the Panel for assessment, you should still email one copy of the green application form, and one copy of your proposed route and route cards (saved from Memory Map)
at least six weeks before the dates of your venture, to the Panel Secretary.
