When undertaking any walking in wild country areas one can expect the normal conditions to be poor in wind, precipitation and visibility. If the weather is good then it should be classed as a bonus.

For expeditions and explorations the participants should be able to navigate in poor visibility. However when planning routes you should consider an alternative route for severe conditions such as very high winds, storms or blizzards.

For local weather information you can ring the Cardiff Weather Centre on 029 20397020. You may be able to speak to the meteorologists personally if they are available otherwise there will be a recorded message giving details of the national weather forecasting facility provided by British Telecom. You should make sure that you have pen and pencil ready in order to make quick notes on the information you are given.

You can also get the local weather on the Met Office site.
