TERESA PINNEY'S FAMILY HISTORY

I have recently become interested in researching my family tree. I am particularly interested in my grandfather, John (jack) Smith whom we dont know much about. We know he married my grandmother, Elizabeth Catherine Meecham in 1920 at Holborn London, we know that he was 29 when he got married to her and they lived in seward street, clerkenwell, they had three children together:- John Smith 1924 : Grace Smith 1926 and Terrance Smith 1928. We also know he was married before, to whom we dont know, but he had a daughter we believe was named Florrie smith. Unfortunatly John and Elizabeth split up about 1929 and we believe he moved across the water to Elephant and Castle area where he started a new life, and had another family of 3 or 4. This is all we know about john himself, and this is only from people who knew him, as my mother (grace) was too young to remember anything about him.

There is also a story that has been passed down that John Smiths mother (Mary Ann Bibby) or his grandmother (Susannah Bibby) had something to do with The Bibby Soap Factory but we are not quite sure what.
