Sir Robert was born in Germany in 1838 but travelled to England and settled in Stockton-on-Tees. He became one the most influential figures of Victorian England and is remembered today by his gift of Ropner Park to the townsfolk of Stockton. This play tells of Sir Robert's astonishing life and the fortunes of Ropner Park right up to the present day when it has received a lottery grant of over £2m to restore it to its Victorian splendour.
