"Albert"
Barclay, Work's No. 2248

Originally built for the British Sugar Corporation and worked at their Worcester and Suffolk plants. The engine was fitted with a steam powered electric generator and a large electric headlight, but only the brackets now remain.  In preservation she has been at  the Nene Valley Railway, before moving to the East Kent railway.  The locomotive was privately purchased and first arrived on the Plym Valley Railway on Saturday 20th March 2004.  After some initial tests and inspections a defect was found in the firebox and the complete locomotive was sent away to Portland for repairs.  This was carried out by A.R. Teifel Steam Engineering

Albert returned to the Plym Valley Railway in September 2007, after lengthy repairs, and passed a steam test on 4th December 2007.
