Building the Railway

Over the years, various amounts of track were recovered from around the City of Plymouth. The original sidings in R.N.A.D. Ernesettle were lifted and brought to the Railway, much of the storage sidings were laid using this track.  Several panels of track and a few point kits were salvaged from Blue Circle Cement at Plymstock, when we re-modelled their sidings; and this track was used in the carriage sidings. The biggest recovery project was to dismantle the line from St Budeaux Junction, down to the R.N.A.D at Bull Point. This took many weeks to complete with many obstacles placed in our way, but the job was successfully completed and provided much of the materials for our main line.

A new platform has been built at Marsh Mills, on the Railway's land, which is now used by our passenger trains. The station building at Billacombe, on the G.W.R. line to Yealmpton, was dismantled and this will eventually be re-built at Marsh Mills.  We have also been donated various railway relics and some of these are on display at the Railway.
