Yacht Sea Essay of Hamble

Introduction
This is an occasional document issued by the Yacht Secretary, which will be placed on the CSD website and sent to all CSSA approved Skippers in CSD when there is new and/or important operational information to promulgate. A copy is also held on board Sea Essay. There is no intention to produce newsletters on a regular basis. Each one is numbered in sequence so recipients can identify if any are missing.
Items for this issue of the Skippers Newsletter are as follows:-
Sea Essay Closedown Checklist
For a number of seasons now there has existed in the Chart Table Folder a Closedown Checklist which listed a number of actions required by outgoing crews at the end of a voyage. The principal aim was to assist skippers in ensuring the boat was left in a clean and acceptable state for the incoming skipper and crew.
Unfortunately, during the past season the Committee have received a number of comments and complaints regarding the cleanliness of Sea Essay on handover. Whilst recognising that any level of cleanliness is subjective to each individual (what is considered acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another) the Committee feel they must take steps to address the matter.
In an effort to do this, the Closedown Checklist has been redesigned (see below) by adding a tick box against each item and a copy will now be sent to each skipper along with the Charter Agreement. Then, as the outgoing skipper at the end of the voyage, he or she will be required to complete, sign and date the checklist confirming that the boat has been cleaned and victualled to his or her satisfaction prior to handover. The checklist should be left for the incoming skipper to sign to confirm that he or she has received the boat in an acceptable condition. Any disagreement should be noted against the appropriate item.
The incoming skipper should then send the signed checklist to the Yacht Secretary along with a copy of the Charter Agreement containing the completed health declaration and crew list.

Sea Essay Close Down Check List
It is the responsibility of the outgoing crew to leave the boat in a clean and
tidy condition for the incoming crew. A good job is required and Skippers should
allow enough time to get it done. All Crew Members are expected to play a part
in completing this close down list.
PLEASE NOTE: THE YACHT HUSBAND TEAM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ROUTINE CLEANING
OF THE BOAT
