MYSTERY HOLES 10 June


Two large holes have suddenly appeared in a Cliftonville street.

The circular potholes in Cliftonville Mews are both one metre across and, in places, are over half a metre deep.

Margate & Cliftonville county councillor Clive Hart said ‘this back street has been allowed to fall into a terrible state of repair and along with my ward colleagues Cllrs. Linda Aldred and Doug Clark we are constantly pressing TDC and KCC to smarten the place up and to make it safe.

However, things really took a turn for the worse when two deep potholes appeared following Fridays heavy storms and I immediately asked KCC Highways to make the affected area safe for local residents’.

Southern Water barriers now surround the holes whilst investigations continue.

BUSINESS AS USUAL + MAY DAY FUN! 8 May

District councillors Linda Aldred, Doug Clark & Clive Hart hit the ground running on Saturday morning with their regular joint ward surgery for Cliftonville West (following their re-election).

After months of hard campaigning the last few days culminated in a frantic week of leaflet deliveries, door knocking and non-stop phoning followed by an agonising wait when complications at the count on Friday stalled their results until the afternoon.

However, though they were very tired and weary their surgery went ahead as usual on Saturday morning (the first Saturday of the calendar month).

Cllr. Clive Hart said ‘we are very sorry if residents who attended this weeks surgery didn’t quite get the usual lively welcome. We were extremely tired following three days of very early starts and late finishes and many miles of beating the streets, but we have all the notes on problems raised by residents and following a short bank holiday rest we promise to follow up all issues with our usual enthusiasm during the coming week. Doug Clark is our senior team member and following his re-election he also had to perform more May Day Mayoral duties despite what has been a very stressful few weeks. He really is an inspiration to Linda and me’.
