Job creation.
In the early 1990s under the previous Conservative
administration, unemployment in Thanet stood at 18%. Since
then the Labour controlled Council has attracted investment
into the area with the result that over 3000 jobs have been
created, and unemployment was down to 7% in 2002.
This is still unacceptably high and the Labour group
would like to see this reduced even further, to the Kent
average of 3% or lower.
