The Southport squad will be split into 2 for friendlies at Prescot Cables and Congleton Town tomorrow.

With 2 weeks to go until season’s kick-off, boss Liam Watson told the Liverpool Echo: ‘We will try and split both teams as evenly as possible. It is more important than results that all the players get 90 minutes in.’

He added: ‘I'll be at Prescot, Neil Whalley and Tony Rodwell will be on the bench at Congleton.’

The trip to North West Counties outfit Congleton was not published along side the initial list of pre-season fixtures.

In Tuesday’s defeat to Radcliffe Borough, it was apparent to many that the fitness of the squad was below par.

The Congleton match will be held at the side's Booth Sreet ground, while a guide to Prescot Cables' Valerie Park can be found below.
