| Biography: |
| 'Syd'
joined Southport from Stalybridge Celtic at the start of
the 2002 season and become an instant hit with the fans.
Despite being relegated at the end of his 1st season, the
industrious midfielder who has an eye for goal was one of
a few shining lights in the 'Port team. He is a great all
round player and was the Player's and Fan's player of the
year in his first season. Pickford burst onto national TV
and made headlines after his brace in the 4-2 FA Cup win
over Notts County in 2002, one of which a superb half-volley
lob and has stayed with the club despite attracting attention
from other clubs and being more than capable of playing
in any Conference side. Signed a 2-year contract extensionm
in December 2003. |
