Vinton is the place Mary Ingalls attended the Iowa College for the Blind. As such it is never described in her books and I was fascinated to see what it looked like. Firstly it must be pointed out that this is not an attraction for tourists but a working building. There are no signs helping visitors to find it and no displays or tours. You must be content to viewing the building from the outside. It is easily the most impressive building in Vinton and surrounded by land and a park. Officially known as the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School , everything about Mary's stay there can be found from the web site link.
