Inspired by the Monet hype recently, I did something I have wanted to do for a long time and recreated a garden scene on a silk tie. It took about six hours to cover the whole tie in paint. The paint had to be very dry as it became easily sucked up by the fibres of the material. This was even more scary when I painted on a silk scarf.

It demanded a lot of patience but was great fun and prompted me to create some more designs when the mood was perfect.

I have also tried blending photography with art but every one seems to be doing similar things with photo-manipulation these days.

This was my first mural. It measured 5ft by 7ft 6ins and covered the east wall of my daughter's bedroom.

It broke my heart when I peeled the paper off to re-decorate.
