The 2000 All England Masters takes place at The Corn Exchange, Cambridge Sunday 28th May. The test-piece which has been decided by ballot by the competing bands is to be Contest Music by Wilfred Heaton.

14th December 1999

The Band would like to welcome Matthew van Emmerik on assistant Euphonium and Andrew Kenyon on third cornet. We are also looking forward to the release of our new CD for the year 2000. The title has yet to be decided, but includes several new solos and arrangements.

16th October 1999

B&R were placed runners up today at the National Finals by a slim margin of one point. Allan Withington and the Band played a magnificent performance of Concerto No. 1 by Derek Bourgeois from the no. 13 position. Fodens (Courtois) were placed first conducted by Nicholas Childs.

29th August

Phillip McCann appeared as guest Principal Cornet at Buxton Opera House on Sunday 28th August. Phillip thrilled the audience with 'Rusalka's Song to the Moon' and the encore 'Post Horn Galop'. Also featured in the programme was the theme tune to the TV series 'Hetty Wainthrop Investigates' which was originally recorded by Phillip.

The Band announce the resignation of Principal Cornet Graeme McCulloch who today leaves the Band to take up the Principal Cornet position at YBS. Grame's successor will be announced shortly.

All England Masters

Brighouse & Rastrick narrowly failed to retain their 'All England Master's' Title today being placed second to Yorkshire rivals YBS.

Allan Withington and the Band put on a magnificent performance of the test piece 'Tristan Encounters' by Martin Ellerby being awarded a 1st/ 2nd & 3rd position by the three judges. Unfortunately this was not enough to beat YBS' 1st/1st and 2nd.
