Prima was founded by David Hirst in 1996 as an events management company related to the performing arts. The company has promoted a variety of events from educational workshops to brass band concerts.

The success of this small company has been due, in part, to the expertise of it’s consultants and it’s flexible approach to customer needs.

In 1997 the company diversified into arts consultancy. This, in turn, led to an involvement in the Arts Council of England Lottery grant scheme, Prima being successful in securing funding for a variety of amateur organisations. Prima offers guidance on Lottery applications and grant aided funding in general.

This year, 1999, Prima  adds music publishing to it’s business portfolio. Prima’s publishing arm  specialises in brass and wind music, producing works for brass ensemble, brass band and wind band.
