Military Genealogy & Operational Records Of The Great War

Researching the British Army
during

The Great War

1914 ~ 1919

The following summaries offer a brief guide to the sources available for research into the records of Officers and Men (OR's) and Army units during the First World War, and the type of information which could possibly be available amongst those sources. It must be stressed that the list is by necessity short, and in particular it should be noted that the information may be available; there can be no guarantee that a particular class of documents will include the information which may reasonably be expected to be found there, as many of the record classes are, for various reasons, incomplete.

Click on the headings below to link to the summaries of information which may be available, but if you have a specific inquiry which is not covered by any of the following general headings then please contact me for advice.
