Your research report and document copies will normally be available on CD, with protective sleeve and custom made label
Notes on copies on CD and the situation ref
photocopies Digital images(*) are the preferred option because they are far more versatile and cost-effective than photocopied images - # You can either print them yourself or read them directly on your computer. # Overall the quality is often better than the photocopied images (ie easier to read / decipher). # You have the option to print the images in colour (TNA colour photocopies are horrendously expensive). # You can zoom-in on areas of the digital image which are unclear on the originals and may be impossible to decipher on photocopies. # The CD is very compact and easily copied or posted, or the images can be sent on to a 3rd party by e-mail. # etc etc. # Finally there are substantial cost savings compared with TNA photocopies, on top of which the postage costs are greatly reduced. (* The images will either be digitally photographed / or / electronically scanned depending upon the format in which TNA present the original document. Photographed and scanned images may be mixed on the disc). .... "First - Thanks for convincing me the CD version was the best alternative. It is great and the option to magnify the data helps no end." - Jim Mac******, New Jersey, USA, June 2006 - most others agree !) ... "CD OK. Opened brilliantly on my apple iMac 5 and was able to tweak some images in photoshop 8". ... Robert F****, Hastings, Sept 2006
Important - Notes ref TNA photocopying services as of October 2006 Photocopies can be supplied as an alternative to digital images, provided that TNA can supply such copies from the relevant documents (there are forms of documents where photocopying is forbidden due to conservation considerations). Please be aware that any photocopies which accompany your report are "best available" within the constraints imposed by TNA and / or TNA's stipulation that they will supply "research quality" only (ie they do not undertake "quality reproduction" on non-specialist orders). TNA's photocopying services continue to deteriorate, with the recent closure and "reorganisation" of the self-service copying facility leading to a quite chaotic and very unsatisfactory situation in the reading rooms. The queuing system has been completely abandoned and the newly designated copying area now has about as much "organisation" as a fire-drill in a French lunatic asylum ! To a great extent this problem has passed me by because well over 90% (over 90 percent) of my client copies are now being dispatched as digital images on CD. The advantages of this are legion, - see above I shall of course continue to supply hard copies as long as clients require them, but the level of disorganisation and delay at TNA has now become so bad that costs for hard copies have had to adjusted to (at least partially) compensate for the time / disruption / costs involved in obtaining them, - these are detailed on your quote. All copies are supplied on the basis that you will be deemed to have accepted the current TNA regulations for the supply and use of copies in full and without reservation. |
