Rabbits are best kept in a hutch measuring at least 36 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 18 inches high, divided into separate areas for eating, drinking and sleeping.

The hutch should be put in a sheltered position off the ground.

The hutch should be kept dry. Dampness kills rabbits.

Archie the rabbitUse clean dry straw, hay or wood chips for bedding. Even better, use the new "Russel Rabbit Bedding" (dust free, absorbent and has a natural fungicide to keep the environment healthy and hygienic).

Remove soiled bedding daily. A small cat litter tray with bedding in it, in the corner of the hutch can be used for toileting. This can be removed and cleaned daily.

Thoroughly clean out the hutch weekly.

Clean the food bowls and water bottles daily.

Rabbits may be kept as house pets and can be trained to use the litter tray.

There should be virtually no smell in the hutch even on a hot summer's day.
