0600        SR Tp back under "Q" Bty Command. Returned to BEECHES FARM.
0800        BC anticipating move for 74 Med and 112 Fd to area SILVER HILL 1744
            sending one pair observers on M/Cs to take sun shoots so as to have a brg
            in the area early. This course taken as vehicles forbidden until bridges               repaired.
0900        Information 74 Med now going to BURWASH COMMON 0943. Survey to send "Q"
            Composite Battery.

0915        information 112 Fd already moved into area SILVER HILL and Svy Tp
            has provided them with a permanent brg from trig data, using m/c pair.
1020        Obs party in 15cwt with rear wireless link to C.B.O. to move along
            road HURST GREEN 171458 BURWASH 1143 until advance held up. Then
            to contact 112 Fd.
1200        Strong enemy thrust reported along front 0747 - 0845. BHQ organised defence
            of its vehicles. Subsequent information suggested that this report
            was premature and that no infiltration as far east as this (BHQ) was
            at all likely, at any rate for many hours. Flash Spotters now ordered
            to put up O.Ps. on SILVER HILL to watch road BURWASH- ETCHINGHAM - HURST
            GREEN.
            Survey to put 74 Med on grid, report centre Little Conghurst 211479
            F.S. to continue registration for 2 Med.
            SR under comd 2 Med to put base covering area of reported enemy thrust.
1330        SR Tp in action COMBWELL 145520.
1725        BHQ moved to BOARZELL 161479. SR Tp still u/c 2 Med advanced to SHOVERS
            GREEN 0949. Base along line of road ROCKROBIN 0652 - STONEHURST 1047.
            FS Obs Sec HQ at HIGH WIGSELL 2044.
2045        SR Tp comes under command CCRA but remains in support 2 Med at present location.

TUESDAY 26^th May.

0830        Rgn Sec withdrawn from 2 Med. Standing at BHQ - survey ordered
            to recce known B.Ps. in area of FDLs (as know known) in case of
            further advance. Survey HQ established yesterday evening at P.H. 164473.
1200        SR Tp reports locations obtained last night and engaged at 0820 hrs
            this morning. HBs at 994488. 996484 (confirmed) and area 9152.
1330        74 Med advanced to area NURWASH WEALD 0942; Survey Tp to give a
            bearing. No other survey to be undertaken as further advance
            expected.
1500        FS to move into 74 Med area 076422; to set up two double posts for
            location and general observations.
1630        BCs meet Regtl Comdr at Lamberhurst; a general retirement to the border
            ordered. Both Btys to remain with Divs. less SR Tp which will remain
            u/comd 2 Med (retiring to GOUDHURST). Enemy bringing Surrey forces in.
1800        BHQ to ALDERDEN MANOR 233476.
2045        Enemy reputed 1 1/2 miles west of BURWASH COMMON.  112 Fd at IDEN GRN
            2450 in area supplied with BPs during adv.  Svy rept centre at BHQ.
            Svy to liaise with other artillery units as they retire.

WEDNESDAY 27th MAY.
0800        Enemy reptd on line BODIAM - HEXHAM.
            FS Obs post at SANDHURST 248445 for obs along ROTHER valley - line
            of expected adv.
            Survey providing brg and fix for 74 Med (2150) 94 Fd (2149) 112 Fd
            (2350) 141 Fd (2549).
0930        Rgn Sec to put out a base along road HAWKHURST - SANDHURST - NEWNDEN
            but no wire at present. (for co-operation with 112 Fd.)
1130        BCs orders (later cancelled on reversion to Divs. at 1400 hrs).
            Inf, Enemy expected 1400 hrs at frontier NORTHIAM - NEWENDEN sector.
            7th Svy Regt reverts to comd. Corps. B Tp Rgn Sec remains u/comd 43
            Div and continues with 112 Fd.
            One Bty each from 74 Med (2250)and 2 Med (1655) allotted for C.B.
            D Tp (with C) reverts to "Q" Bty as SR Bty.
            Int SR Bty will supt Btys allotted for C.B.
            Method. C Tp. to Supt 2 Med D Tp to Supt 74 Med.
            Tasks. C Tp to wire a base BROOMHILL 2549 to DINGLEDEN; zone of
            obs east of a gen line NEWENDEN - NORTHIAM.
            Policy - immed neutralisation. Ready by 1630 hrs.
            D Tp to retain as long as possible present R/L base on line 1154 -
            1751 (in supt 2 Med).
1410        Above orders cancelled. Genl retirement ordered to line FAVERSHAM -
            ASHFORD - coast. Btys to revert to Divs. BHQ to HARTLEY 1953.

0930      O.C. 94 Fd withdrew Rgn Sec. Base now untenable on acct enemy adv and no
          more meteor required.
