Recollections of a War Office Meeting held in December 1943.
Only about a dozen there, service personel, scientists etc.
V2 details accurately given - height - speed - Range - trajectory - warhead 10 tons ( later proved to be 1 ton)
I was told :-
a) cover Kent with a lattice of equilateral triangles (over 30 in all)
b) Site a a microphone at each the corner
c) Wire each microphone to a new HQ in Canterbury.
d) I shall need a lot of microphones and recorders (our present ones being worn out).
Answer from me.
a) No problem. Do it tonight on the map. Survey 90% and flag result: finish tomorrow night rest next day.
b) I cannot wire 30 more microphones to CANTERBURY, it is a job for the Post Office.

A Senior PO rep will be at your office tomorrow a.m.
Spend the millions and get all the extra gear you need from the Northampton Depot.
I will send you a "boffin" for technical problems.
The Boffin could not say how the gadget could produce results. Sent to his boss he did not know either.
On advice I sent for a Cambridge Don, He arrived late in the evening and solved the problem (details xxxxxx)

P.S. If you like more details of the next few weeks I will be glad to
provide,
e.g use of a 6" Dover Gun approximate speed and trajectory 0f the V.2.
One interesting meeting led by WATKINS WATT (I Think).
