The Battle of Bautzen

1813

With Friends from the October Wargames Association (Pat and Ian), from Uni (Neil ) and Peter from Ireland I put on the Battle of Bautzen 1813  at the Sheffield Triples Wargames show in April 2000. This is a 2 day event . We played out 15 moves of this game over 2 days using NPOW .

Here are some pictures:

Looking North from the Allied left wing.

Napoleon (Patrick) is in red contemplating Bertrand's crossing of the Spree (or possibly regretting the lack of sleep).

Ney (Neil)at the far end of the table beginning the entrapment of the allies.

Oudinot's troops in disarray in the foreground.

A view across the allied centre SW toward Bautzen showing that the allied centre is buckling.

The Allied left wing is still strong.

From the French left wing looking SE right along the allied right and center . This shows that the allies have been forced to fall back across the marshes in the distance . Too few troops - too much ground to cover on their right.

I will put OOB and maps in the section on the 1813 campaign.
