THE ROPNER LADIES BOWLING CLUB

The Club was established in 1960, by a local sportswoman, Mrs Harriet Williams - its logo carries the stars for the sons of Robert Ropner - the founder of Ropner Park way back in 1893.  It also carries the Hart to signify the association that he had with the area and Hartlepool in particular.

The Ropner Park Bowling Association is managed and run by the clubs at Ropner - from Greens maintenance to cleaning, weeding, catering and general chores - we all do our share.  The summer months are full of bowling activities including league matches, competitions, friendly 'roll ups' and Coaching Sessions from Qualified Coache(s), in the most superb surroundings.

It would be a lie to say that it is all fun/enjoyable/gratifying, but 90-95% of it is !! From the end of September to early April things are fairly quiet but we have carpet bowling and the occasional get together in the pavilion.

As with any club we have a constitution - our AGM is held in November and coincides with a lunch and prize giving. Membership currently costs £2.00 - Green fees are currently £36.00 per annum which every Ropner Bowler pays - for this, one can play on Ropner's superb greens as follows; Mon - Fri 1.00pm to 4.30pm and 6.00pm to 9.00pm and on Saturdays the time is 1.00pm to 4.30pm.  On Sundays, the greens are either closed or in use for Competitions or friendly matches.

We play League matches on Thursdays and have practice sessions on Tuesdays - every third Tuesday in the summer is a Fun Day which is very well supported and it's good fun...... Competition, good company and fun is what it is all about at Ropner....and there is always time to look at the flowers in our pleasant surroundings.
