Canine Bowen Technique
Training Courses.
Entry Requirements
Training is available for those who meet the following criteria:
All prospective students (both Self-Interest and Full Diploma courses) must have completed the 4-day Introductory Level tuition of the Bowen Technique on humans prior to commencing the Canine Bowen Technique course. This is to ensure that students already have an understanding of the Bowen Technique and will have practiced their technique on people before being allowed to work on dogs.
Please contact us if you require details of human Bowen Technique training providers.
Before they can be awarded the EGCBT Diploma in Canine Bowen Technique, Full Diploma students (other than vets and qualified veterinary nurses - see below) must also have completed training in the Bowen Technique on humans. This is done for the following reasons :
To ensure that certified practitioners have a complete understanding of the Bowen Technique,
To equal the high professional standards mandated by other animal complementary therapies,
To gain and retain recognition and professional credibility within the veterinary, canine, and complementary worlds,
Insurance cover to work on animals (on veterinary referral) may be difficult to obtain otherwise.
(Completing this human Bowen training could be done either before, during, or after the Canine Bowen Technique course, although doing both human and canine courses at the same time does involve a high workload from the need to do two sets of case studies.)
Veterinary Surgeons and qualified Veterinary Nurses (on the RCVS list) do not have to complete the human Bowen course in order to receive the EGCBT Diploma, but are required to have completed the Introductory level of the Bowen Technique on humans prior to starting the Canine Bowen Technique course.
Applicants must satisfy the course organisers of their aptitude for working with dogs by including brief details showing their experience of working and/or living with dogs.
Ideally, although not essential, students should bring their own dog to work with during the hands-on parts of the course.
This is to ensure that there is already a bond of trust between dog and student to enable the practice sessions to proceed with minimal stress to the dog.
Applicants will be required to provide evidence of having adequate personal liability insurance, or be prepared to accept personal liability for any accident or injury caused by their dog whilst attending the course.
Please contact us for further details and an Application Form. Final acceptance onto the course is subject to an informal interview, typically conducted by telephone.
