This is the annual skiing trip to Les Karellis. It's organised by BT Labs Twinning Association’s opposite numbers the JEPTT-DA in Darmstadt and France Poste people from Rouen. It’s in a small French resort called Les Karellis. The resort is ideal for intermediates and beginners. Accommodation is full board in an Azureva (previously known as Vacances PTT) hotel. The hotel has "doorstep" skiing.

The resort boasts

Alpine skiing

  • 530 hectare skiable area
  • 5 chairlifts
  • 13 button lifts
  • 28 pistes providing 40 miles of skiing between altitudes 1650 and 2520m 
  • Resort equiped with snow cannons

Cross country skiing

  • 125 hectares of marked pistes for 30km or circuits

For non-skiers

  • Hiking trails
  • Tobogganing
  • Guided walks and snow-shoe walks

Although the resort is not as extensive as the bigger French resorts, and is not well known to the British, it should keep most advanced skiers happy with mogul fields, jumps, good off-piste skiing and one excellent schuss. It could do with a few more black runs to keep the masochists happy, though. But if you want to take lessons to improve your technique and have a good time, it's ideal.

Price: Euro 365 per person* (approx £230 at 1.59 Euro = £1)

Includes:

  • 7 nights in shared room (two- or three-bed rooms)
  • Full board - 3 meals a day with table wine included

Initial deposit of Euro 165 per person on booking. Balance of Euro 200 per person due by 28 Feb 2003

Transport: Make your own arrangements. Most go by car, some fly Stansted-Lyon with Go, and you can either catch the train to St Jean de Maurienne & bus up to the resort or hire a car. It may be possible to arrange a car share.
