Deborah Salmon's Biography

I was born in Epsom, Surrey, and took up the clarinet just before my ninth birthday. I studied with Jill Sadler and Ian McKay before beginning a music degree course at Kingston University. At Kingston, I studied clarinet with Roger Heaton and was awarded an honours degree.

I graduated in 1994, and worked in the world of blue-chip companies (including Southern Electric and Vodafone), before the threat of redundancy forced me to reconsider all of the options available to me. At this time, I made the decision to return to music, teaching clarinet and theory in Redhill, Reigate and the surrounding areas.

I was a cup-winner in the 2004 Reigate and Redhill Music Festival, where the adjudicator praised my varied and enjoyable performance.

My repertoire includes the following works:

Concertos and other works with orchestra

Sonatas and other works with piano Chamber works Unaccompanied works

This list is far from complete, but includes some of the more important works for clarinet which are in my repertoire.
