Come and join us in Reigate &
Redhill Choral Society! We have so much to offer anyone who is interested in joining a local choir, and new members (particularly tenors and basses) are always welcome. Whether you are an experienced choral singer or a beginner, you are more than welcome to come along for a try-out. Of course it helps if you have sung before, but don't be intimidated if you're a novice; we're more than happy to help you out. After all, everyone must start somewhere!
Within a few months you could be performing with us in one of our concerts, or taking part in one of many other events. In previous years these have included singing Christmas Carols at local venues (including a country house hotel, and at private functions for local businesses), foreign tours, a gospel workshop, and even a CD recording!
Choral singing is a rewarding, enjoyable, fun activity for all ages, so if you'd like to join us, do! Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening at Redhill United Reformed Church Hall, Shaw's Corner, Redhill, from 7.45pm until 9.45pm. We work hard in these rehearsals to achieve a high standard of performance but we all share a strong spirit of enjoyment, and you are more than welcome to join us for a try out. No audition is required before becoming a member, although new voices will be heard by the music director in order to ensure proper balance between the parts. Rehearsals for the 2007/08 season resume on Tuesday 4th September, with an open rehearsal on Tuesday 11th September, so if you're considering joining us, why not come along?
Previous experience of choral singing is useful, but we are always willing to help out beginners so do not feel intimidated if you haven't tried this out before. We have all levels of ability, from beginners to music graduates, and so someone will always be able to offer help. We are a friendly group of people, and extremely sociable - in recent years there have been two Society weddings, with two of our sopranos marrying two of our tenors (although I hasten to add that this is not a condition of membership!).
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to take part in choral singing, and we do not discriminate against any one on any grounds. We have a bursary scheme available for anyone who requires assistance with membership fees, and further information on the scheme is available on the Anne Garton Bursary Fund web page.
If you have any other special needs, please e-mail us for further information on how we can help you to join us.
Even if you feel you can't sing (but we've yet to encounter anyone who can't after a little encouragement!), you can always help us by joining the Friends of Reigate and Redhill Choral Society. Our Friends enjoy a number of privileges, so visit the Friends page to find out more.
