stream, and friendly people.

Many visitors have said it is "a typical idyllic English village".

It is full of historical buildings.

In August, "The Feast", a week long gymkhana and fair, celebrating the village's 700 year old charter, takes place on the green surrounding our house.

The villagers are friendly and welcoming and are always available for advice and hospitality.
Many of our guests spend almost all of their time enjoying the village itself.

The green is an extremely safe place for children to play.

The village is in the centre of attractive countryside and there are facilities for every type of sport:
walking, climbing, horse riding, sailing, swimming, golf and tennis.

"The Stanwick Arms" has an excellent reputation for wonderful food served in a wonderful atmosphere.
It is within easy staggering distance of the cottage!

"The White Swan" has excellent pub food in Gilling West, about 3 miles away.
