Another quality piece of workmanship from the Mischief Brew duo as they turn their attentions to the infamous hedonist Serge Gainsbourg for another cheeky re-edit. As with their two previous edits, the emphasis is on subtlety, reverence and faithfulness. ‘Requiem Pour Un Con’ - lifted from the 1968 soundtrack ‘La Pacha’ - is the track of choice this time round, And as ever the results definitely warrant a bit of your hard earned. Thirty-six years on, a bit of a nip, tuck and an extra poke later and it still sounds as great as ever.

Andy Smith’s Document II mix-CD was the first to spot the pull of Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Requiem Pour Un Con’. Now the Mischief Brew bandidos give it a re-edit for the more adventurous dancefloor. With those spookily space-age drums, metronomic bass and Le Perv himself intoning pure evil (sans translator, we’re guessing here), this is a deadliest blast from the past.

Cheeky re-edits and dirty booties were massive last year and it looks like 2004 is set to follow suit if the Mischief Brew posse has anything to do with it. ‘Requiem’ is taken from ‘Whitney-Houston-loving’ gallic vocalist Serge Gainsbourg’s 1968 soundtrack LP ‘La Pacha’. It’s a simple formula that works well - choose a great tune with a heavy break, extend, add an incessant b-line and a gravel-voiced crooner and hey presto!

Lounge heaven - a rebuild of Serge Gainsbourg’s ‘Requiem Pour Un Con’ with the funky-but-French break and Gainsbourg’s tart vocal. Nothing fancy but it works...

‘Requiem’ sees our shadowy heroes Mischief Brew do a a job on everyone's favourite Gauloises-smoking, foul-mouthed and dead Gallic rabble rouser, Serge Gainsbourg. It’s a reverential nod, with meandering beats and Serge gobbing off in French. It’ll give you the right ‘orn.

New Mischief Brew re-edit (they are the guys who did George McCrae’s ’I Get Lifted’) they take on the ugliest-man-to-sleep-with-the-most-beautiful-women Serge “I want to fuck her” Gainsbourg and his rolling break-tastic ‘Requiem Pour Un Con’.
