Harry Thumanns 70s disco classic “Underwater”
is one of the most influential dance records ever made, countless
house & techno bods have ripped it off, with its driving rhythms,
famous bassline, spaced out keyboard riffs & uplifting adventurous
orchestration, its no wonder that the chaps at Mischief Brew decided
to re-edit it. Darren Emmerson even named his label after it.
If you havent got the original, then you need this in your collection,
its a slice of mirror ball history.

Larger than life space age disco is the order of the
day here as re-edit meisters Mischief Brew turn their attentions
to Harry Thumann’s late seventies, synth-driven monster
‘Underwater’. Like all their edits, the touch is subtle,
faithful and unfussy which probably explains why it sold out in
the first two weeks. Grab the limited repress while you can!

Those pesky Mischief Brew boys are at it again, this
time re-editing classic italian disco record “Underwater”
by Harry Thumann. They do a pretty good job too: ‘Undercurrent’
rises, falls and rises again before climaxing in one of the most-over-the-top
orchestral crescendos known to man. Camper than a scout jamboree,
but guaranteed to get the party jumping.

This storming remix of a lost disco classic from 1979,
complete with stabbing brass, pounding bass and driving, floor-filling
percussion, is already an Annie Mac favourite. A sure-footed,
intelligent slice of retro-tinged electronic house, ‘Undercurrent’
proves that the last days of disco are still ahead of us.

If ever there were a record that changed the face of
disco, it was Harry Thurmann's 1979 disco instrumental "Underwater".
A record that still sounds as futuristic today as it did some
25 years ago. A huge record for Dj Harvey, Idjut Boys and just
about every other twisted disco connossieur. Here we have a subtle
re-edit done very much in a Harvey style, pro-longing the nasty
disco grooves and making us wait just a bit longer for that incredible
hands in the air horn bridge. Massive.
