Situated
at one end
of a row of flint cottages, Hope Cottage is situated in the heart of
Long Melford, so named because it is reputed to have the longest village street
in Britain. It is one of
Suffolk’s old wool villages and has an abundance of antique shops, pubs and
restaurants and a beautiful village green overlooked by an impressive mediaeval
church. The village is also privileged to have two stately homes which are well
worth a visit.
Long
Melford is situated in south Suffolk….a county famous for its Heritage
Coastline, ancient towns and villages, beautiful and historic country houses.
There are a whole host of places of interest to see: vineyards, wind- and
watermills, splendid gardens and
country parks, monuments and antiquities, seaside promenades, unspoilt beaches,
ports, bird-rich marshland, lazy
rivers and endless, gentle, undulating countryside………the historic towns of
Bury St. Edmunds, Colchester, Newmarket and Cambridge are all within easy
travelling distance.
The cottage has an extensive range of tourist information literature for guests to use, including books and maps detailing walks and cycle rides.
Long Melford is approximately an hour's drive from Stansted Airport and also the port of Harwich. There is a train station in Sudbury, 3 miles away, and good access to the A14 and A12 trunk roads.
