The Waffen-SS War Diary is an extensive project, launched by the SS-Museum, to chronologically present the daily events and activities of the Waffen-SS during the Second World War. The SS-Museum is well aware of the magnitude of such a project but we believe that the amount of time and effort required to complete the Waffen-SS War Diary will be justified. The resultant Diary will become a valuable and comprehensive resource for anyone who is interested in the operational research of the Waffen-SS.
The primary source for entries into the Waffen-SS War Dairy will come from the extensive range of respected bibliographical titles we have at our disposal. In addition we will be referencing the infinite number of archive records stored in various archive institutions around the world.
To insure the credibility of all Diary entries we will quote the source of an entry so the entry can be validated if so wished
In addition to utilizing the primary sources for entries, the SS-Museum would like to invite personal submission of entries to the War Diary. We are well aware that a number of visitors to the SS-Museum possess a greater knowledge base on the operational history of the Waffen-SS then we could possibly hope to have. To simplify usage we have presented the Waffen-SS Diary in a straightforward manner. Entry to the Diary begins by selecting one of the war year links listed at the top of this page. Selection of a war year will present the viewer with a monthly calander layout for that year. From here the user will simply select a chosen date. In the initial stages of the Waffen-SS Diary, the majority of dates shown in the calendar view will not be selectable. As new date entries are posted to the diary, the related date on the calendar will become linkable.
