It is a tribute to the popularity of your page that two people from the Watford area should phone me in Bristol on the Friday the above picture was published. The picture was indeed Watford Central School Under-14-and-a-half team which won the knock-out tournament at Kingsway School. All the local schools attended that afternoon in 1948. We beat Durrants in the final and I am pictured holding the trophy, as captain.
One of the team has passed on and I doubt if any of the other five live within your circulation area. I seem to remember receiving a trophy from Mr Stanley Rous, before he was knighted but whether it was this tournament or not, I cannot recall.
I have been in the Bristol area for 18 years but I often visit Watford and friends keep by copies of the Nostalgia Page for me.
