Scrabble Profanity
I purchased a copy of "Scrabble 2005" for my wife and was surprised to note that the computerized players seem to have an extremely dirty mind. Its possible to set computer opponents with varying ages. My wife (she is starting out with the game) set the youngest opponent possible with the lowest skill level. We discovered quickly that the scrabble artificial intelligence needs to have its Mouth washed out with soap and water! The ten year old opponent used several well known profanities such as the f and c word. It also used some we hadn't heard of and some we thought had died out in the twentieth century!
I think I’ll contact the Scrabble people to ask if they can prune the profane words from their dictionary files. The product itself is really open to a lot of improvement, but sometimes developers don’t like to be told where those improvements need to be made. I think that coming from a support and troubleshooting background as I do gives me a good perspective on user comments. Hopefully its one that the Scrabble development team shares.
Our Talking Dictionary includes profane words but it is possible to request a copy with these removed. They are removed by default in the downloadable demo version.
Scrabble 2005 is not designed for blind computer users.
