These games formed part of the Watford and London International Festival of Football, held annually at Parmiter's School in Watford. The Reading Under-9 team for the 2000/01 season took part in the section of the tournament described as "Pro Youth Under-8". The reason for the apparent discrepancy in ages is that the cut-off date for Academy football is 31st August, whilst this tournament took place in July.
Group A table:
| P | W | D | L | F | A | GD | Pts | |
| Arsenal A | 5 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 15 | 1 | +14 | 13 |
| Wimbledon | 5 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 10 | 2 | +8 | 8 |
| Reading | 5 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 7 | -3 | 7 |
| Watford | 5 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 6 | -3 | 5 |
| Southampton | 5 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 10 | -6 | 4 |
| Millwall | 5 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 2 | 12 | -10 | 4 |
Reading then lost a play-off game against the third placed team from Group B, Coventry City. Therefore, in some sense we came sixth in the competition (out of eleven teams).
